Click the [Edit] button next to an IP address block selected from the list of IP address blocks available for delegation to begin the process of editing the reverse DNS delegation information for the IP address block.
First, the process for editing the reverse DNS delegation (rDNS) information for an IP address block will load a screen that allows multiple operations, so you will be able to review the process as you complete it.
At the top you will find an explanation of each step of the process.
- Edit Nameservers: The first form allows you to assign the selected IP address block to existing hosts, which must be authoritative servers for the zone that is being delegated.
- Once you enter the nameservers and click the [Next] button, the system will review the servers and show their status in the next form.
- Zone Validation: Here, the system verifies the nameservers entered in the previous step.
- Authoritative servers are displayed as follows and allow the user to continue with the delegation.
- DNS Error: A nameserver with a DNS error is displayed as follows In this case, it is not possible to continue the process.
- Unknown Host: An unknown nameserver will be displayed as follows In this case, it is not possible to continue the process.
- The [Next] button will only allow you to continue to the final step of the process if the DNS servers you entered are authoritative servers.
- The final step of the reverse DNS delegation process shows a summary of the data you have processed, which will be confirmed once the process is complete:
- Affected IP address ranges or blocks
- Primary or master nameserver
- Secondary or slave nameserver
- To complete the reverse DNS delegation (rDNS) process, click the [Next] button on this screen.
* In case of error, this process can be repeated to restore the previous configuration.
