The [IP Resources/ASN] / [Manage] option in the context menu allows you to access basic information for the IP address blocks you manage.
The list shows all the IP address blocks allocated to the organization you manage. Depending on their status, each block will have different options.
If the IP address blocks have reverse DNS delegations, you will find:
[Edit]: Allows initiating the process of editing the current rDNS delegation.
Click the [Edit] button next to a block selected from the list of IP address blocks available for delegation to begin the process of editing its reverse DNS delegation.
The process for editing a reverse DNS delegation (rDNS) for an IP address block will first display a screen that allows multiple operations. You will be able to review the process as you complete each step.
* At the top you will find an explanation of each step of the process.
1) Edit Nameservers: The first form allows you to assign the selected IP address block to existing hosts, which must be authoritative servers for the zone that is being delegated.
Once you enter the nameservers and click the [Next] button, the system will check the servers and show their status in the following form.
2) Check zone validity: The system checks the nameservers entered in the previous step.
-
- Authoritative servers are shown as follows
. In this case, the delegation process can continue.
- DNS Error: A nameserver with a DNS error appears as follows
. In this case, it's not possible to continue with the process.
- Unknown Host: An unknown nameserver will be displayed as follows
. In this case, it's not possible to continue with the process.
- Authoritative servers are shown as follows
In this case, the [Next] button will only allow you to continue to the final step of the process if the DNS servers you entered are authoritative servers.
3) The final step of the reverse DNS delegation process shows a summary of the data you have processed, which will be confirmed once the process is complete:
Organization
Affected IP address ranges or blocks
Primary or master nameserver
Secondary or slave nameserver
To complete the reverse DNS delegation (rDNS) process, click the [Next] button on this screen.
* In case of error, this process can be repeated to restore the previous configuration.
