To specify routing policies, it is often useful to define sets of objects. An as-set is a group of autonomous system numbers linked to a base autonomous system. Its definition may include direct or indirect references to other as-set objects. In LACNIC's IRR, the base autonomous system is used as the identifying prefix for the as-set.
The object's attributes are described below:
- as-set: The value of this attribute represents the name of the as-set object. In LACNIC's IRR, it includes the name of the Autonomous System followed by “:” and a description beginning with “AS-”.
For example: as-set: AS28000:AS-Clients
- descr: The value of this attribute is a short description of the maintaining entity. In LACNIC's IRR, the default value is the name of the organization.
- members: This attribute lists the members of the set. It can be either a list of AS Numbers or other as-set names.
- remarks: A comment or an explanation related to this object.
- mnt-by: The value of this attribute represents the maintainer of the object.
- changed: This attribute shows the email address of the person who modified the object for the last time and the date of the modification. The attribute has the following syntax:
changed: <email-address> <YYYYMMDD>
For example: changed: johndoe@terabit-labs.nn 19900401
- source: This attribute specifies the registry where the object is registered.
Example of an as-set object:
as-set: AS6057:AS-Clients
descr: National Telecommunications Administration
members: AS26384, AS54321
members: AS6057:AS-MediumSizeClients, AS6057:AS-LargeClients
remarks: as-set for all clients
