The mntner (maintainer) represents the entity responsible for managing the objects in the IRR. It displays the general information of the organization and its points of contact (persons). The mntner object is referenced in all IRR objects and represented by the mnt-by attribute.
In LACNIC's IRR, mntner objects are generated based on organization’s information. The following is a description of this object’s attributes:
- mntner: The value of the attribute is a unique name that identifies the maintainer in LACNIC's IRR database. The naming convention currently used by LACNIC is MNT- [OrgID], where OrgID is the organization's identifier in LACNIC’s registration database. For example: If your OrgID is UY-LACN-LACNIC, your mntner would be MNT-UY-LACN-LACNIC.
- descr: The value of this attribute is a short description of the maintaining entity. In LACNIC's IRR, the default value is the name of the organization.
- admin-c: Represents a list of administrative contacts. In LACNIC's IRR, the value of the attribute is the handle of the organization's administrative contact.
- tech-c: Represents a list of technical contacts. In LACNIC's IRR, the value of the attribute is the handle of the organization's technical contacts.
- upd-to: This attribute specifies the email address to be notified of any unsuccessful attempt to update an object maintained by this maintainer. The value of the attribute in LACNIC's IRR is the email address of the organization's administrative contact.
- auth: The auth attribute specifies the method that will be used to identify and authenticate requests to update this maintainer. The following authentication schemes are defined: NONE, MAIL-FROM, PGP-KEY and CRYPT-PW. Because the information is managed from the MiLACNIC platform, it is not necessary to provide an authentication scheme in LACNIC's IRR, so the default value will be NONE.
- remarks: A comment or an explanation related to this object.
- mnt-by: The value of this attribute represents the maintainer of the object. In LACNIC's IRR, it is the value of the mntner attribute, which represents the organization's maintainer.
- changed: This attribute shows the email address of the person who modified the object for the last time and the date of the modification. The attribute has the following syntax:
changed: <email-address> <YYYYMMDD>
For example: changed: johndoe@terabit-labs.nn 19900401
- source: This attribute specifies the registry where the object is registered.
