What is an aut-num and how to modify these objects?

In the LACNIC IRR, aut-num objects are generated based on the information on the autonomous systems assigned by LACNIC. The only attribute users can edit is tech-c, which corresponds to the technical contact for the autonomous system assigned by LACNIC. The object's attributes are described below:

• aut-num: The value of the aut-num attribute is the ASN of the autonomous system described by the object. In the LACNIC IRR, it is the autonomous system number preceded by “AS-”.

Example: as-name: AS28000

• descr: A short description of the maintaining entity. In the LACNIC IRR, the default value is the name of the organization.
• as-name: A symbolic name of the AS. In the LACNIC IRR, it is the Autonomous System Number preceded by “AS-”.

Example: as-name: AS28000

• tech-c: Represents the technical contact registered in the LACNIC database.
• remarks: A comment or an explanation related to this object.
• mnt-by: The value of this attribute represents the maintainer of the object.
• changed: This attribute is the email address of the person who modified the object for the last time and the date of the modification. This attribute has the following syntax: changed: <email-address> <YYYYMMDD>

Example: changed: [e-mail] 19900401

• source: This attribute specifies where the object originated.

Editing the technical contact for an AS

Editing an aut-num object from the IRR

To modify the information of an aut-num object from the IRR, look for the [IRR] option in the organization's context menu:

The [rpsl] tab shows the list of all the IRR objects. You can search for the aut-num object you wish to modify in the panel on the right by filtering by type of object or by tag.

Once you find the aut-num object you wish to modify, select the [Edit] button.

This will display the form where you can edit the contacts of the AS for the selected aut-num.

Once the operation is complete, the AS and the corresponding aut-num will be modified.
